Amos and Alison share almost all their passions and hobbies: they love talking about “church,” watching football, hiking and doing home renovation projects together. They have a beautiful, fiery daughter, Aisla Josephine. Life, marriage and ministry has never been the same since her birth in 2019!

Amos graduated from Calvin University and then Calvin Seminary with a semester abroad at Jerusalem University College and internships in Uganda, Montana, and Ohio He has served as a kids director, youth pastor and in 2011 God called he and Alison to be the planting pastors of Revive Vineyard Church in Grand Rapids, MI. In 2016 they moved to Pennsylvania to become the “second generation” pastors at the Vineyard in Chester Springs after Bob and Marilyn Palumbo’s retirement.

Amos values spiritual depth, emotional health, and an engaged mind. He would love to connect with you over beer, coffee or a bowl of ice cream. He is a student of the Bible and his favorite authors/thinkers are NT Wright, John Mark Comer, St Augustine, Brene Brown and JRR Tolkien. He frequently recommends the ESV Study Bible as his favorite resource.

Alison Groenendyk

pastor of spiritual formation (lead)

48377498_10102720623800273_4921977171972

Alison loves learning about communication, relationships, psychology, and the human body, and she found a career in medical speech pathology to be the perfect blend of these passions! Alison worked as a brain injury specialist for 8 years across many hospital and rehab settings, and was a clinical instructor at her alma mater, the University of Northern Iowa!

Alison has been a part of the Vineyard movement since 2004, when she began searching for a church that valued equally the Bible and God’s Spirit! Her first time in a Vineyard church, she knew she was “home”. She loves the authenticity and radical welcome of the Vineyard, and that we get to live life together in response to simply being loved perfectly by Jesus! Alison has served in many leadership roles in adult groups, youth ministry, worship, outreach, and young adult ministry. Amos and Alison planted and pastored a Vineyard Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan soon after they were married in 2010.

A trained spiritual director through Sustainable Faith, Alison is at her best when helping individuals and small groups experience the healing and wholeness Jesus offers. Her pastoral roles include overseeing Life Group leadership, Sunday Serve Teams, Care and Financial Assistance Systems and Events planning. She also helps to set the strategic vision of the church and staff, and to grow our culture of spiritual formation and emotional health!

Alison loves to geek out about neuroscience and new medical procedures, and still reads medical journals for fun! ;) In her free time, you’ll find her painting landscapes, listening to good music-all kinds, hiking mountains, cheering (loudly) for the Green Bay Packers, perfecting her homemade coffee syrups and lattes, and cuddling her sweet Ragdoll cats, Mika and Ruki!

Emily Nefos

Connect Pastor

Emily has the heart of a servant, loves to listen to people, deeply values prayer, and has a desire to see everyone understand their value as beloved children of God.  She loves being with people, gathering, and is deeply passionate about neighboring.  In her role as a wife and mother of three kids under the age of 10 and in her role as the Connect Pastor, she regularly gets to practice all of these things.

Emily’s journey has included missions work, Seminary, and fourteen years of service in the  Vineyard church family.  She spent two years in the Congo as teacher and volunteer aid worker in an orphanage.  After this, she went to Fuller Seminary in California where she experienced the Holy Spirit and learned about the Vineyard movement.  She was forever changed by learning to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.  Following her time in California, she became a public school teacher in Coatesville for some years before joining the pastoral staff here at the Vineyard in Chester Springs.  She’s passionate about teaching the Bible to both adults and kids, and she loves to study the original languages of the Bible.  She recently completed her Master of Divinity degree through Capital Seminary in Lancaster and has greatly enjoyed putting into practice all that she learned through her studies.

Stef Austinat

Director of Operations

IMG_20201218_143117723_HDR.jpg

Stef is a native of Essen, Germany, but found her heart’s home in Philadelphia when she moved to the U.S. to attend school at Temple University. Stef graduated from Temple with a degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management and Business and expresses her love for God and people in large part through the avenues of hospitality and administration. She spent 16 years in Conference Services at Villanova University and during this time obtained her green card, making PA her permanent home. Stef has been a part of the Vineyard movement for over a decade and helped plant a Vineyard church in the Philadelphia region where she then served on the board and as the director of community partnerships. Her heart for working towards the flourishing of all people was on display in this role as she helped the church develop a culture for expressing Jesus’ love and welcome through regular practical service in the community.

In her role at VCS, Stef is responsible for several operations and ministry areas, including facilities/building operations, Sunday morning hospitality and teams, community service, events, and finance, with a dash of general admin (such as weekly e-mail, website and podcast) mixed in. She loves the variety of tasks and opportunities to express her skills and gifting, and in turn being able to free up others to do what God has called them to do.

Stef enjoys the city and loves to introduce others to its beauty, uniqueness, and, well, quirkiness. Nature has her heart, though - especially spots with views of wide-open skies or being on or near the water. On rainy days, Stef enjoys baking (and eating baked goods), and she is an avid reader and podcast listener and engages in theological reflection through these avenues, but also enjoys sitting down with a good cozy mystery - she doesn’t take herself too seriously!

Bob Palumbo

Director of Worship

IMG_1696.jpg

Bob lives with Marilyn, his wife of 53 years, in King of Prussia, PA. They have 2 daughters, five grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. Bob has been a pastor since 1975, serving in the capacity of youth leader, worship leader and has been the lead pastor of four churches, three of those in the Vineyard. Bob and Marilyn planted what is now known as Vineyard Church - Chester Springs in 1992 and transitioned the church leadership to Amos and Alison Groenendyk in October of 2018.

It was the passion to worship Jesus and the focus on the healing work of the Kingdom of God that drew the Palumbos to the Vineyard. The first Vineyard service they ever attended in 1984 left a lasting impression on their lives. They had found “home”. As Director of Worship, Bob offers pastoral care and skills training to the worship team, as well as helps to set the vision for our Sunday morning worship experience.

Bob enjoys retirement with Marilyn and spends a good deal of his time painting impressionist art. He loves the work of Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Bob enjoys taking walks with Marilyn, listening to the music of the Beatles, and occasionally traveling to Caribbean islands, sometimes on a cruise.

Abigail Houston

Director of Care and Prayer Team lead

20191022_134238.jpg

Abigail grew up in South Africa and came to the USA as an au pair where she met her now-husband, Bing, during her first week in the country at a local diner. Bing and Abigail live a simple, family-focused life as they farm and do their best homeschooling their 7 children and raising them to love generously, live courageously, and connect deeply with themselves, each other, and their world. Abigail also loves engaging in transformation work. She is a coach for Emotionally Focused, walking alongside people as they process their spiritual practices and relationships from the inside out.

As the Director of Care, Abigail helps connect people who want to both give & receive practical help. Her heart is for us to be a community that leans into this rhythm of giving & receiving so that all are cared for.

As the Prayer Team lead, Abigail helps facilitate spaces for us to be a prophetic community where we speak truth and life over people. We do this by hearing God's voice and saying Yes to him both individually & as a church family.
